Depending on the operating conditions, the cabins applied may be open, closed, panoramic, small-sized, etc.
The dimensions and configuration of the cabin are determined by the size of the equipment installed in the cabin and the ergonomic requirements. The cabin is divided into the following functional areas:
workstation of the crane operator;
electric equipment installation zone;
equipment servicing area;
cleanup zone of the cabin surfaces;
passage to the workstations;
Clear visibility is one of the most important ergonomical requirements for a cabin. The clear visibility requirements determine the glass cover shape of the cabin, its location on the crane or load trolley and the presence of the swivel panel. Special visibility areas are selected, i.e., differentiation of the viewed space is made. The main area is connected with the position of the transported cargo. It is located at the level of the workshop floor and is limited by the end positions of the hoisting device in the span and the load trolley track width.
The cabin’s information area is connected with the general location of the equipment, the condition of the load ropes, the possibility to receive signals from the slingers, the location of the nearby cranes and of the landing spot.
The cabin is comprised of the body and the equipment pieces, the following being the basic ones:
crane control chair;
electrical equipment cabinet;
air conditioner, etc.
The cabin's body is made all-welded. The load-bearing frame is made of angles or the non-circular pipe and takes up the main loading. The cabin is made with heat- and sound-insulation. It has the protection panel, general lighting fixture, cabinet, fire-extinguisher, first-aid kit, heater and the necessary equipment.
